The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was called to order by President Boddie at 6:00 PM at the Village Hall.

ROLL CALL Present: Trustees Al-Awar, Benson, Boddie, Borel, Butterwick, Langford, MacKrell and van der Velde. Absent: Trustee Izenberg.
Others attending: ZPA Perry, Asst. Treasurer King, Supt. Esch and fifteen residents.


--Speaker 1. What is the status of the proposed security siren? The Security Committee expects to present product quotation(s) at the next Trustees meeting; specifics of connection with the area emergency warning system are also being investigated. Others present noted the availability of warnings via cell phones/electronic devices.

--Speaker 2. What is the status of the deer management issue? Public opinion is divided regarding discharge of firearms (prohibited by BHV Ord. No. 2) and deer culling. The most recent effort was deemed ineffective by the Trustees. Ann Arbor City interest in deer management was mentioned; the Trustees will continue to watch for options.

--Speaker 3. Commended the Trustees for planned replacement of often-repaired water main on Oakdale Road; encouraged replacement of similar often-repaired main on Barton Shore Drive near Underdown Road.

--Speaker 4. When the water tower is cleaned this summer, what should residents expect? Only the exterior of the tower will be cleaned so there should be no impact on resident water use.

FENCE PERMIT Construction of a garden fence at 900 Country Club Road was approved as presented. (Butterwick/Al-Awar/P)

MINUTES Minutes of the April 14, 2014 regular and May 5, 2014 special Trustees meetings were approved as printed. (MacKrell/Langford/P)

FINANCE/FINANCE COMMITTEE The Cash Balances report was distributed. The Cash Disbursements for April 2014 were approved as printed (Aux. Book XVI E(3)).(Al-Awar/Butterwick/P)


Zoning and Planning Administrator (Perry) Recent zoning questions included a landscape proposal (any soil disturbance greater than 200 square feet requires Ann Arbor Township Soil Erosion permit review) and basketball hoop installation (no permit if moveable; permit required if in-ground permanent structure).

Planning Commission (MacKrell/Perry) The Planning Commission held a special meeting/public hearing in April 2014 and approved the proposed zoning ordinance for recommendation to the Trustees. The document should be ready for distribution to the Trustees in the next week or so.

COMMITTEE REPORTS Written annual committee reports as published in the May 2014 Barton Bulletin were acknowledged. A Water Committee special report on water main leak history compiled by Jim Wilkes was distributed to the Trustees, who expressed appreciation for Mr. Wilkesí efforts and offer to continue updating this history.
