MINUTES OF BOARD
TRUSTEES OF BARTON HILLS VILLAGE
September 9, 2013
The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was called to order by President Boddie at 6:00 PM at the Village Hall.
ROLL CALL Present: Trustees Al-Awar,
Benson, Boddie, Borel, Butterwick, Izenberg, MacKrell and van der Velde.
Absent: Trustee Langford.
Others attending: Asst. Treasurer King, Supt. Esch, BHMC President MacKrell, two residents and four guests.
Will Boddie was nominated to the office of President. Nominations were closed and Mr. Boddie was elected. (MacKrell/Al-Awar/P)
Forrest Butterwick was nominated to the office of President Pro Tem. Nominations were closed and Mr. Butterwick was elected. (MacKrell/Al-Awar/P)
Cheryl MacKrell was nominated to the office of Clerk. Nominations were closed, Mrs. MacKrell was elected and took the oath of office. (Butterwick/Al-Awar/P)
The following appointments were made by the President: Treasurer George Borel, Attorney Bruce Laidlaw, Assessor Randy Perry, Assistant Treasurer Priya King, Deputy Clerk Jan Esch.
Committee assignments remain the same unless the Trustees contact the President.
Speaker One. BHMC President MacKrell asked for feedback from the Trustees regarding tree trimming being done along Barton Shore Drive. Comments ranged from favorable to very favorable.
Speaker Two. A resident asked about groups of runners on BHV roads, saying that he had experienced delays and dangerous situations driving while some sort of organized run was going on. The Trustees replied that no groups have been given permission to hold an organized running event in BHV; further that the Board would investigate to see what options are available to the village for this kind of situation.

FINANCE/FINANCE COMMITTEE The Cash Balances report was distributed. The Cash Disbursements for August 2013 were approved as printed (Aux. Book XIV E(6)).(Benson/Butterwick/P) The annual audit was successfully completed and the report will be available soon. The Finance Committee will be exploring ways to increase revenues and/or decrease expenses.
Zoning and Planning Administrator (Perry) No report.
Planning Commission (MacKrell/Perry) No report.
Environmental (Butterwick/MacKrell) Motion to remove a tree limb hanging over Barton Shore Drive near Juniper Lane was tabled until a professional opinion could be obtained to determine the health of the tree and potential danger. If the tree is deemed to be dangerous, responsibility will be determined and the tree branch removed. (MacKrell/Butterwick/P to table)
It was agreed that constructing a wooden fence around three sides of the plastics recycling bins was an acceptable alternative to planting bushes as originally decided at the 9/10/12 Trustees meeting.
Recreation (Benson) Plans are moving ahead for the Village Social on October 10, 2013 and the Halloween event on October 31, 2013.
