TRUSTEES OF BARTON HILLS VILLAGE

July 8, 2013

The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was called to order by President Boddie at 6:01 PM at the Village Hall.

ROLL CALL Present: Trustees Al-Awar, Benson, Boddie, Borel, Butterwick, Langford, MacKrell and van der Velde. Absent: Trustee Izenberg. 
Others attending: ZPA Perry, Asst. Treasurer King, Supt. Esch and one resident.

MINUTES Minutes of the June 10, 2013 Trustees meeting were approved as printed. (Langford/MacKrell/P)

FINANCE/FINANCE COMMITTEE The Cash Balances report was distributed. The Cash Disbursements for June 2013 were approved as printed (Aux. Book XIV E(4)).  (MacKrell/Al-Awar/P) The annual audit will begin 7/29/13.

PUBLIC COMMENT An Underdown Road resident expressed concern about speeding on his street. The Trustees responded with assurances that the issue will be addressed via Barton Bulletin articles regarding brush trimming to improve visibility and safety reminders, use of the radar speed sign in the area and investigation of a possible speed table installment.

STANDING REPORTS

Zoning and Planning Administrator (Perry) No report.

Planning Commission (MacKrell/Perry) No report.

The Board of Trustees meeting was set aside at 6:30 PM for the Board of Zoning Appeals meeting. The Trustees meeting was reconvened at 6:40 PM.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Recreation (Benson) Dollie the Trolley and other details are in progress for the Halloween hayride. Planning will begin for a Fall Social to be held at Barton Hills Country Club in mid October.

Environmental (Butterwick/MacKrell) No report.

Long Range Planning (MacKrell) No report.

Personnel (Langford) No report.

Roads/Vehicles (Al-Awar) No report.

Security (Butterwick) No report.

Water (Davis) No report.

Zoning/ZO Revision (Perry) No report.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS None.

WALL PERMIT The application to construct retaining walls for a new garage project at 855 Oakdale Road was approved. (Borel/MacKrell/P)

NEW BUSINESS

--Road paving quotations are being gathered for paving later this summer.

--An agreement is being made with Nextel/Sprint to leave the antenna mount on the water tower. The telecommunications company will pay BHV $5300 towards the cost of repainting the water tower (work they would have done if they had removed the mount).

--Information about deer management in urban areas is available from Trustee MacKrell.

--Progress in the certification of the roads was discussed.
